Top 5 hotels in Nantou (Taiwan)

Nantou is a central region in Taiwan. Also known as (南投縣) or Nantou county, it’s an area full of mountains and greenery and is a place with a very special flavor different from others parts of Taiwan island. Also is famous for being the only region in Taiwan that doesn’t have a coastline.

Nantou has a lot to see and do like the Sun Moon lake, QingJing Farm, the Formosa aboriginal village, etc. The Wednesday night market is also a must-visit. More on this like later.

Over the last months i got recommended and I liked this accommodation options:

TOP 5 hotels in Nantou:

1. Yoou Shan Grand Hotel. 5*. 100$.
2. Islet Inn. 2*. 40$
3. New Era Art Resort and Spa. 4*. 84$
4. Chengpao Hotel. 3* 60$
5. The Yahdih Hotel. 3* 40$, or less..

1. Yoou Shan Grand Hotel. 5*. 100$.

Pretty much the only acceptable option i found for a 5 star hotel in Nantou. Which is not surprising since this is a more rural and mountainous area. Even then this is not a very luxurious option. Nevertheless the rooms are nice and clean. And the pool is always a big plus for me.

2. Islet Inn. 2*. 40$

This hotel is a bit pricey for what you actually get but it is a good place for visiting the aforementioned top tourist spots in Nantou. So it’s a bit of a trade off.

3. New Era Art Resort and Spa. 4*. 84$

Location is great and the owner was very nice. I can highly recommended this hotel altogh i felt it’s a bit pricey.

4. Chengpao Hotel. 3* 60$

After i long research for a good hotel in Nantou i came up with this finding. The rooms are super-clean, wooden floors, good service, and decent location. Plus there is some nice views to the mountains.

I liked this place and is where i spent most of my days at Nantou. The staff was very kind and attentive and they often gave me good advice about what places to visit in Nantou, or where to go for lunch. Specially the owner which is very cool and talkative guy.

5. The Yahdih Hotel. 3* 40$, or less..

A cheap option if needed.

Bottom line

Generally i found the hotels in Nantou to be decent, but rather pricey. The staff was always very helpful and willing to give directions. And almost always spoke English, albeit not so good as in Taipei. But that was expected as-well.

Nantou is a great place to visit and i had a very lovely visit at the Sun Moon Lake. Which is the biggest lake in Taiwan.
